ABOUT US - Why choose Southern Car Storage?

Identifying the right storage company for your particular needs can be a challenge so let us be clear, our niche is long term storage of cars and motorcyclesWe are not competing with the dusty 'barn on farm', the 24x7 access garaging nor the hyper car underground vaults. We simply offer a high quality facility and a friendly service.
Regardless of value, we understand that you are trusting us to look after your pride and joy so we have worked very hard reassure you:

  • We own our building outright (i.e. no risk from leases, landlords or mortgages)
  • Our building is dedicated to vehicle storage (i.e. not part of a barn, warehouse or business unit)
  • Our building is automatically dehumidified to 55% Relative Humidity, fully insulated and sealed (i.e. not just 'dry storage')
  • Our building is totally dark (i.e. no risk of UV damage or access via windows and skylights)
  • Our building is at a residential address in a private drive for improved 24 hour security (i.e. not on an industrial estate)
  • We aim to be friendly and flexible (e.g. no notice periods or cancellation charges)
  • We make our prices very clear and competitive (i.e. no extra 'booking in charges' and your rate is guaranteed)
  • We never allow any maintenance, service, painting or repair work to be carried out on site (i.e. no risk of damage to your vehicle)
  • We have rewired the whole building and invested in heat detectors, fire extinguishers, CCTV and a Grade 4 alarm system (i.e. the best available)

ACCESS - Can I work on my vehicle?

No, to help keep our customers vehicles safe and secure, we do not allow any form of maintenance, sale or repair on site.

In addition customer delivery and collection is by prior appointment, on weekdays only.

BATTERY CONDITIONERS - Do you supply these?

Yes, we attach battery conditioners to all vehicles on our Silver and Gold packages. We only use new battery conditioners from CTEK (the worlds leading specialists) and prefer their MX5.0T for intelligent charging and automatic temperature control. We use other CTEK models for Start/Stop and Hybrid Cars.
Battery conditioners are essential when storing modern vehicles since their sophisticated computers, alarms, anti-corrossion systems and tracking devices can drain a battery within a few weeks. 
This can be a costly mistake as a flat battery can immobilise your vehicle requiring a dealer recovery service and full computer re-set by the manufacturer.
Our Bronze package may be of interest when storing older vehicles or restoration projects as these often do not need a battery conditioner.

BOAT - Can you store my boat?

Unfortunately, due to a shortage of space, we no longer offer boat storage to new customers.
However, we there is a local farmer offering outside boat storage and we are happy to introduce you if that helps.

BOOKING - How do I make a booking?

That's simple.

Once you are happy to proceed, just send us an email to confirm your booking and pay your deposit.
We ask for a one month, non-refundable, payment prior to arrival (payable by BACS or cheque).
This deposit will be returned prior to departure (normally offset against the final month).

CARAVAN - Can you store my caravan?

Unfortunately, we do not offer caravan or motorhome storage.
However, there is a local farmer offering outside storage and we are happy to introduce you if that helps.

CHARITY - Do you support charities and fund raising events?

Yes, we believe that it is very important to give something back to society.
So, we make monthly donations to MacMillan Cancer Support and the Guide Dogs.
We also raise funds through participatation in individual events such as Little Haven Hospice and the London Moon Walk.

COLLECTION/DELIVERY - Do you offer a vehicle collection or delivery service?

COVERS - Can I supply my own cover?

Yes, all our cars and motorcycles are fitted with a free, non-hygroscopic, loose fitting dust cover, however, if you would prefer us to use your own cover, that’s fine.

FORKLIFT - Do you have a forklift on site?

Yes, we have a modern 2.5 ton truck and attachments (essential for manouvering trailers, lifting boats and moving pallets of components).

FUEL - How much fuel shoud I leave in my tank?

This is a common question because there is conflicting advice available and it depends on an number of factors (e.g. fuel tank material, the use of fuel additives, length of stay, age of the car, humidity/temperature control...).
For your particular vehicle, you may wish to seek specialist advice from the manufacturers or owners clubs.
Failing any specific guidance, the most common solution for long term storage is a full tank of fresh fuel with fuel stabiliser added and run through the system.


GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes in to force on 25th May 2018.
As you may be aware,
this data privacy law gives you more control over how your data is used and how you are contacted by organisations.

In line with this new law, we will be updating our terms and asking customers to specify their preferred contact method.


One of the biggest changes to UK data privacy law comes into effect on 25th May.

The General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR for short)

HUMIDITY - Is the storage facility dehumidified?

Yes, our facility is completely sealed, dark and insulated with humidity maintained at 55% by eight desiccant dehumidifiers.

INSURANCE - Do you provide vehicle insurance?

Yes, we have a comprehensive Motor Trade Policy with the Ageas which covers your vehicle.

You will receive a copy of our policy following the delivery of your vehicle.

Vehicle insurance cover up to £100,000 is included in our published Car and Motorbike prices.

Additional cover is available by prior arrangement and for customers of Classic Insurance Services, we may extend this cover to £2,000,000 per vehicle at no extra charge.

Customers may wish to retain their own insurance cover for peace of mind and to maintain any bonuses.

MOT - Can you organise an MOT/service for my vehicle?

Yes, we would be happy to coordinate this for you.
The current MOT fee is £54.85 for cars and £29.65 for motorcycles (vat exempt).
As a guide, we charge £30 to remove your car from storage, prepare it, deliver to the local garage, collect and return it back to storage.
However, please feel free to CONTACT US to discuss your specific requirements.

MOTORCYCLE - Can you store my motorcycle?

Yes, we have a dedicated area for motorcycles and additional security measures. Please visit our Motorcycle Storage page for more details.

PARKING BAYS - Do you offer a decent space around each vehicle?

Yes, we allow plenty of space around cars and motorcycles.

At present all cars on our Silver and Gold packages get a dedicated parking bay measuring 5m long by 3m wide.

PAYMENT - How do I make payment?

To help keep our prices low, customers normally pay monthly in advance by Standing Order.
Any additional charges (e.g. MOT, pre-store clean) can be paid on collection.
However, we are happy to accept alternative payment schedules if required (e.g. overseas customers).

PRICING - Why are your rates so low?

We belive that we now offer the best value long term vehicle storage in the UK.
By keeping our own costs down and specialising, we can pass these savings on.

But low prices do not mean low quality - our facility offers the perfect environment for long term vehicle storage and no expense has been spared in the conversion process or the security measures undertaken.

PRICING GUARANTEE - Our rates are guaranteed

For your peace of mind, we guarantee your rate from any increase for 2 years from your arrival.
In the unlikely event of a price rise after 2 years, we guarantee to limit this to inflation.

RAIL TRAVEL - Where is the nearest railway station?

If you are arriving or departing by train, we offer a free collection/delivery to New Milton station.

RESTORATION PROJECTS - Can I store my future restoration project with you?

Yes, we can store anything from a shell or frame through to a complete vehicle.

SECURITY - How safe will my vehicle be?

We take our security extremely seriously and have invested heavily in a number of security measures, both physical and electronic.

Our facility is in a discrete, private location (not an industrial estate). On site is a residential property and another business premises (for 24 hour cover). 

In addition, we have invested in a Grade 4 Police monitored security system, CCTV, off-site key safe and a number of physical barriers.

SERVICE & MAINTENANCE - Can you recommend local garages for service and maintenance work?

Yes, for new cars and motorcycles all the main dealers can be found online, however, owners of specialist vehicles may like to try the following companies who have provided a good service to us or our customers in the past;

STORAGE PERIOD - Do you have a minimum storage period?

Our focus is long term vehicle storage so we advise a minimum storage period of 6 months.
However, we are flexible and there is no maximum stay, no contracted period and no set notice period.

TRAILER - Can you store my trailer?

Unfortunately, due to a shortage of space, we no longer offer trailer storage to new customers.
However, we there is a local farmer offering outside trailer and boat storage and we are happy to introduce you if that helps.

TYRES - What do you do to protect the tyres

All tyres are inflated to 50psi (unless notified otherwise) using filtered compressed air. This helps prevent both tyre flat spotting and internal corrossion.

VALET - Do you offer a valet service?

Yes, we offer a very comprehensive valet for cars and motorcycles. From a simple one hour pre-store clean right through to a full day of detailing.

VAT - Do you charge Value Added Tax (VAT)?

No, we do not charge Value Added Tax (VAT) on any of our services. The price you see is the price you pay, no hidden extras.

VISIT - Can I visit your facility before commiting to storage?

Yes, to help give you peace of mind, we are happy to show you around our facility and to discuss your particular requirements prior to storage. Please contact us to arrange a meeting.
